This year’s bathing season was carried out with another flash

After two atypical summers, full of constraints imposed by the pandemic, this year’s bathing season was carried out with another flash and without serious interventions by lifeguards.

The 2022 bathing season officially ended on September 11, but the Bay beach remains under surveillance until October 2, with the presence of two lifeguards belonging to the Safetynor Lifeguard Association.

This extension, requested by the Municipality of Espinho, is related to “the weather forecast available, which points to the strong possibility of affluence to the beaches, particularly at the weekend,” explains the City Council, noting also that although the Water Rescue Device of the Espinho Municipality Fire Department remains active throughout the beach front, it was required “to the concessionaires who requested the full extension of activity the permanence of lifeguards during the respective period.

According to Álvaro Brandão, president of Safetynor association, this is a way to, together, extend the surveillance of the municipality beaches, despite confessing that the bathing season “went well”, having been “a peaceful summer”.
